Why do you want to use MDF? It swells, disintigrates and adds weight. Not a lot of strength either. I would go with regular framing lumber, kerf if you have to. If you will be keeping your little...

In order for Kreg joints to work properly it is important to use Kreg screws. The flat bottom head and the drill point are a necessary feature to the system.
